Starting this past week and still continuing today, Invisible Children has been doing an incredible event with 100 cities in the United States and including 10 countries worldwide. Over 80,000 chose to walk away from their homes and “abduct” themselves to parks, churches, schools & streets to tell the world through our generations eyes to end the war in Uganda. Every night hundreds of African children are taken from their homes in Africa and forced to become child soldiers to fight on behalf of war criminal Joseph Koney. My intern, Stephen Knuth was one of those self-abducted from his home in San Diego and chose to experience , “The Rescue.”
Through today’s generation of tech savvy individuals. Leading up to the “Night Of”, participants would challenge Moguls “Celebrities” and Media to come to each city and express words to the crowd in support of freeing the child soldiers. Stephen was able to not only attend the event, he took his camera along too! To his excitement, he saw one of my good friends and groom Josh Cox was a Mogul to San Diego!! Josh is known most recently for setting the world record on the 50k. The San Diego event attracted along with Josh Cox, American Running Record Holder and one of Josh’s groomsmen, Ryan Hall!
I am currently in Florida but Stephen was able to report to me via text every hour how the event was going. There are still four cities that need Moguls! They are Chicago, Wichita, Charleston & Richmond! Stephen told me, there are some hardcore abductees that are still living outdoors in those four cities! Chicago is specifically requesting Chicago celebrities until the people can return home. Friday night a caravan of cars and the Invisible Children bus left for Vegas, Denver, Chicago & New York City to attract moguls to those cities. From that caravan, three of those four have been rescued.
